Ground Cherries (Organic)

Also known as ‘Husk Cherries,’ these golden fruits belong to the same family as tomatoes and tomatillos, but are more associated with the sweet fruit family than the savory fruits (like tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, etc). Mild, yet very sweet, their flavor has been known to be described as a cross between a pineapple and a tomato. They are also reminiscent of gooseberries in flavor. Remove the husk and purée them into a salsa verde; simmer into preserves; or bake them into a pie that is sure to please.
